Revision · The 30-Day Program
This part is where the ideas stop being ideas and become a schedule: one concrete challenge a day, about 10–20 minutes, each drawn from a chapter and each building on the day before. The throughline is cumulative practice — you keep the stack until the habits are simply how you live.
What this part covered
Section titled “What this part covered”- One small rep a day — each challenge is small enough that you have no honest excuse to skip it, because habits are built by frequency, not by quality.
- The house rules carry it — show up imperfectly, never miss twice, keep the stack, track it honestly, and treat a miss as data, not a verdict.
- Week 1 · Foundations (Days 1–7) — the raw capacities: a cold shower, a 60-second observation drill, a five-minute sit, naming one emotion, and an evening three-line review.
- Week 2 · Attention & People (Days 8–14) — point that sharpened attention outward: a deep-work block, single-tasking, a full-attention conversation, active listening, and perspective-taking.
- Week 3 · Discipline & Improvement (Days 15–21) — turn showing up into getting better: a hard daily rep, a kept promise, deliberate practice on one skill, seeking feedback, and never miss twice.
- Week 4 · Reflection & Becoming (Days 22–30) — turn practice into a chosen self: journaling, a weekly review, an identity statement, integrating every habit into one day, and a plan for the next 30.
- Day 1 is a cold shower for a reason — the cold doesn’t care how you feel; it teaches the one skill under all the others: you can feel resistance and act anyway.
The takeaway
Section titled “The takeaway”A book read is a book forgotten, so this part is the one that turns reading into reps. Each week builds the next: raw capacities, then attention outward, then discipline into improvement, then all of it back inward into a self you’ve chosen. The real test isn’t Day 30 — it’s Day 31, when the novelty and the satisfying row of checkboxes are gone. That’s why the program ends not with a finish line but with a plan for the next thirty days. Don’t aim to complete it. Aim to not stop.
